Creation and Artistic Research
The Caravaggiesque Corpus:
The portfolio brings together the results of a decade-long research into the chiaroscuro technique and the material rendering of Michelangelo Merisi. The production is divided into three fundamental cores:
Philological Studies (The Genesis): Technical analysis and reproduction of Caravaggio's masterpieces. Each work represents a stage of in-depth study into the secrets of background preparation and the application of light, essential for understanding the Master's language.
Documentary Recovery (The Palermo Nativity): A visual reconstruction project dedicated to the “Nativity with Saints Lawrence and Francis.” The work, stolen in 1969, is here restored to the community through a copy that preserves its historical memory and emotional intensity.
The International Experience (The MET, New York): The pinnacle of the research, documented by the copy of “The Denial of Saint Peter,” executed live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This work, certified and stamped by the museum, attests to the high Historical and Technical Rigor achieved by the artist.
Contemporary Evolution: The Unseen Works
Beyond his work as a copyist, the portfolio presents the artist's original production. In these previously unseen Caravaggiesque works, the skills acquired through the study of the classics are applied to new compositions, where the language of the seventeenth century dialogues with a contemporary sensibility and original visions.
